


The magic of packaging: FIXUM's unique fastener for Hugo Boss
High-quality underwear also needs attractive packaging. A folding carton manufacturer developed and produced packaging for the special Hugo Boss shorts range. Originally designed for our region with normal temperatures, it turned out that this packaging did not work in other latitudes with high temperatures. The adhesive bond was not stable enough under these climatic conditions and the flaps split open.
It was only at this point that FIXUM was asked for help and tasked with finding a quick and uncomplicated solution to adapt the packaging to the particular climatic challenges. FIXUM was the ideal partner for the successful realisation of this challenge.
The folding box with the elegant hinged lid was subsequently fitted with a magnetic closure. But this magnetic closure is more than just a locking mechanism. It adds a touch of magic to the opening experience and has a positive influence on the perception of the Hugo Boss brand.
But that's not all the magnetic closure has to offer. Thanks to it, the packaging can be opened multiple times at the point of sale (POS) in a non-destructive manner to support the potential customer in their purchase decision.
Metal plates and invisible magnets: the technology behind the special closure system
How does the innovative closure work? A small metal plate is incorporated into the double flap of the hinged lid and magnets are located on the opposite side wall. When you open it, you feel a slight resistance and suddenly the contents become visible - just the right element to arouse the customer's curiosity and encourage them to buy.
To draw attention to the magical moment of opening, all magnets were made invisible. This was the birth of the FIXUMs quickFIX® strip. This was integrated into the side wall of the box. The strip enabled quick and precise manual reassembly without compromising on stability.
The packaging of the Hugo Boss shorts with the unique magnetic closure is not only functional, but also aesthetically pleasing.
